Good News
Saturday, August 20, 2011
I was listening to the radio today and someone said this: "We may not be able to preach the gospel in front of them, but we can live the gospel in front of them." People have said this so many times in different ways, but it never made this much sense. If you are in another country where you can't talk (preach) about Jesus you can act (live) like Jesus would--be kind, be patient, listen to what people have to say, etc. When you do this, some people will ask why you are so patient and kind and everything. Then you can tell them that you act (live) this way because Jesus does.

Cupcakes!

The other day I was making random designs of flowers on cupcakes with my friend and came up with some really cute ones. All you need is colored frosting and/or a bunch of different candies.
To make roses you have to lay a Laffy Taffy on a sheet of wax paper, put it in the microwave and turn it on for about eight seconds. Once it's done you can roll it out with a rolling pin and cut it into narrow, thin strips. Then you roll it up like you would roll a sleeping bag, and it looks like a little rose. For the petals you can do the same thing with a green Laffy Taffy, but cut out a couple triangles instead of rolling it to look like a rose, or you can cut sour punch straws into small ovals to make leaves.
For frosting flowers and leaves, color white frosting with different colored food coloring and use different tips to make the shapes of flowers and leaves. Candies like Sweet Tarts, Skittles, M&Ms, etc. are good for making petals and flowers, too.

Pink Lemonade?!
Who in the world thinks a lemon is pink? Who came up with PINK lemonade? Well, if you go to Wikipedia and look up lemonade it gives you two stories. The one I like says that while a guy was making some regular lemonade to sell he accidentally dropped some cinnamon candies in it which turned the lemonade pink and gave it a sweeter taste. The pink lemonade sold better, so he continued dropping cinnamon candies in.
The second story is that someone simply put the dye of a red sock into the lemonade and turned it pink. If you have accidentally washed white laundry with a red sock you should be able to see how this works. If not I will tell you. When laundry is washed some of the coloring comes out. So when you put a red sock in the washer with white cloths a little bit of red dye comes out and mixes with water so it turns the water pink and makes the white cloths turn pink!
Now there is the answer to PINK lemonade!
